Welcome From the Chair

Dr. E. Joseph Emeka

Welcome to Quincy University's Division of Science and Technology. This is an exciting time for students in our programs as we continue to integrate technology into all of our programs. We invite you to take a look at what we offer including several internship opportunities that are available to our students.

QU's Division of Science and Technology faculty are highly qualified in their respective fields. Each full-time faculty in the division has a Doctorate in his or her academic discipline. More than 98% of our graduates have gone on to graduate or professional schools, or secured employment in their field of study, within one year of graduation.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the programs that are available within the Division of Science and Technology, the degrees offered as well as the various concentrations. A minor is also offered in each of these areas.

  • Biology: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science with concentrations in Environmental, Medical or Teacher Certification.

  • Chemistry: Bachelor of Science. The Chemistry program also offers pre-professional and concentrations in Pre-Medical, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Dental and Pre-Physical Therapy.

  • Clinical Laboratory Science: Bachelor of Science. This degree is offered in collaboration with three hospitals in Illinois and one in Missouri. The details are contained on the website.

  • Computer Science: Bachelor of Science. In addition, the Computer Science department offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, a multidisciplinary degree that includes Computer Science and Business.

  • Mathematics: Bachelor of Science and a concentration in Teacher Certification. The Department of Mathematics also offers a Pre-Actuarial Science program in affiliation with the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Besides all of the above, the Pre-Engineering program is also housed within the division. There are eight regularly scheduled Physics courses that support the Pre-Engineering program. Again, the details are contained within the website.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share this information with you. Please browse the website further, I am confident you will like what you see! If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Dr. E. Joseph Emeka, Chair
