Chemistry

This four-year undergraduate program leads to the Bachelor of Science
in Chemistry. The chemistry curriculum provides a solid foundation in
chemical principles, inorganic and organic chemistry, and biochemistry.
To earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, a student must complete a
minimum of 124 semester hours. Students are exposed to an introductory study
in chemistry, physics, and mathematics, as well as the liberal arts education
requirements common to all students.
The Chemistry program prepares graduates for careers as chemists, or in related
areas such as pharmaceutical sales. Students completing the program can continue
their chemistry education at the graduate level in masters and Ph.D. programs.
Institutions where past graduates have studied include the University of Missouri-Rolla,
the University of Nebraska, Colorado State University, and the University of
Illinois. The Chemistry program also prepares students for health-related fields
such as dentistry, medicine, and veterinary medicine if pertinent biology courses
are included in the program.
Advanced Placement Opportunity: Consult with the Dean of Science
and Technology.
