Pastoral Ministry

 

The Pastoral Ministry major is for those students who wish to complete a degree in theology with an emphasis on preparing for service in pastoral ministry.  The requirements for 2007-2008 are as follows:

1.  General requirements for baccalaureate degree (including TRS 116 Western Religious Traditions, which is required of all first-year students).

 

2.  Core courses:

TRS 217 Introduction to the Bible

PHI 251 History of Western Philosophy I:  Ancient and Medieval

PHI 252 History of Western Philosophy II:  Modern and Contemporary

TRS 359 Catholic Social Teaching

TRS 497 Theology Capstone

 

3.  Additional required courses:

TRS 236 Sacraments

TRS 246 Catholic Life and Thought or TRS 256 Introduction to Christian Theology

TRS 321 Theology of Church

TRS 331 Spirituality and Human Development

TRS 361 Pastoral Ministry

TRS 481 Field Experience

TRS 482 Field Experience

4.  Two additional courses chosen from the following:

TRS 229 Introduction to Christian Moral Conscience

TRS 251 History of Christianity I:  From Jesus to the Dawn of the Reformation

TRS 252 History of Christianity II:  From the Reformation to the Present Day

TRS 319 Christian Sexuality

TRS 339 Guide to Christian Marriage

TRS 341 Liturgy and Worship

TRS 349 Theology of Death
