Program Requirements

Program Requirements

  1. General requirements for baccalaureate degree.
  2. MUS 117 Music Appreciation (fulfills general education requirement in Fine Arts).
  3. Communication courses (21 hours)
    • COM 210, 384, 385, and 480
    • Three of the following: COM 330, 361, 365, or 387
  4. Music courses (23/24 hours)
    • MUS 113, 114, 115, 116, and 310
    • Two of the following: MUS 107, 213, 214, 218, 311, or 312
    • Applied Music and/or Music Ensembles (7-8 hours)
  5. INT 480 Internship - Music Production (3 hours)
  6. 27 semester hours of Electives outside Music and Communication (9 hours must be 300-400 level)
  7. A grade of "C" or better is required in all Communication and Music courses applicable to the major
  8. Successful completion of all components of the assessment program as outlined in the handbook for Communication majors

The following courses are recommended as electives for those students interested in understanding and developing entrepreneurship: ENT 301, 315, 331, and 497. Also recommended is ENG 382.
