Political Science

The Political Science Program offers a BA degree and a minor. The department offers a full range of courses across the major subdisciplines of the field. This includes courses in American Politics, Political Theory, Comparative Politics, and International Studies. The department is also home to the extensive Pre-Law Program.

Students may participate for credit in QU’s nationally-ranked, award-winning Mock Trial Team. Coached by faculty and local legal professionals, students learn legal reasoning, public speaking and organizational skills, and a great deal about the nature of the adversarial system. The department also offers a variety of Internship opportunities with private attorneys, the State’s Attorney’s Office, and the office of nationally-recognized legal scholar, Judge Robert S. Hunter. Interns go to court, do legal research, and charge cases while learning firsthand what life is like in the professional legal community.
